Are you looking for a fun and modern way to improve your networking skills? Not a fan of business books or seminars. Well, this might be right up your street.
I spend more time than I would care to admit on Youtube. Most of it, albeit enjoyable, is a total unproductive procession of cute pet videos and celeb nonsense. However during this “down time” I unexpectedly discovered something to help anyone gain confidence at networking events and present themselves in the best way possible. Charisma on Command is a Youtube channel with more than 5 million subscribers, so hardly a secret – but not something I knew about until recently. Across their hundreds of videos, they cover topics from body language to storytelling – each breaking down into a few simple tips for self-improvement. This is a gold mine for tips to help you build confidence in a networking setting, especially if you worry about appearing nervous or are unsure how to approach people. And the best bit is that these short videos are highly entertaining. One of my favourites is where they break down recent celebrity chat show interviews and disect how some of the most charismatic people on the planet come across that way. Why is this important? Well, building relationships is the foundation of all good networking. And by working on how you come across and knowing how to make a good first impression, you can massively improve your networking success. One of my personal favourite videos is about how to deal with a conversation that isn’t going very well. Which I think is one of the biggest fears about networking. In it, they break down how to subtly send a message that you aren’t happy without making you look bad. Those tips certainly took my networking confidence to the next level. Sound good? Well, I recommend this video to get you started.Having previously being an active member of the Coventry FaB networking group I am now proud to be an integral part of the Lutterworth FaB.
I have enjoyed opportunities to meet likeminded people and share opportunities that support both mine and their businesses!
