Do we love it, or do we want to ring each others necks!? Read on to find out!
We are a family business – a mother-daughter team! And we love it. But working with family can be difficult, so here are our different takes on it! Gemma – The Boss & Daughter “The Boss – hahaha” a long time ago we did decide that I would be in charge, mainly because of my slightly more analytical and “serious” personality. But in reality, we are a team and my mum has so many strengths, no one can spot an opportunity like her, so we look at things together. It only works because we respect each other’s strengths. The hardest thing about working with my mum is switching it off. We now have regular mother-daughter days, where we shop, beautify and talk about life instead of business. The best bit is that I am with her every day. She is the most encouraging teammate I could ever ask for! Amanda – The Founder & Mum Gemma is the business partner I grew myself! She left home for Uni at 18 and I was secretly devastated but being a supportive mum I waived her off. I never dreamed that 15 years later we would be running FindaBiz together. But boy am I grateful! People always say how similar we are but we couldn’t be more different! I think I bring positivity and energy to the business. I am a woman of action and usually leave a trail off admin in my wake – thankfully Gemma is there keeping things organised. We have the same goal for the business and a good plan for me slowly retiring which I think is important when two generations of family work together. The hardest thing is not being mum! Gemma can fight her own battles, but as mum, I want to do it for her! The best thing is being together.Having previously being an active member of the Coventry FaB networking group I am now proud to be an integral part of the Lutterworth FaB.
I have enjoyed opportunities to meet likeminded people and share opportunities that support both mine and their businesses!
