The change to Government Lockdown Restrictions now allows 30 people to meet outside. FindaBiz Face to Face Networking meetings still can't go ahead under the slightly lifted restrictions, but FindaBiz Netwalking can. Amanda talks about our recent Netwalking adventure!
What is Netwalking?
Netwalking is where a group of businesspeople meet outside and talk as they walk. Netwalking fits perfectly within the new Government Guidelines, so FindaBiz Networking set about organising FindaBiz Netwalking.
Netwalking
We chose Coombe Abbey Hotel and Country Park as our venue as they have a wonderful woodland walk which was exactly the right distance for us. Plus they could offer us their Orangery for beverages after we had completed our walk.
Preparing for Netwalking!
Gemma and I did a trial walk the day before FindaBiz Netwalking and although we really enjoyed being outside and being together the weather was dreadful and we were wet through and that made us very worried about the conditions for our walk the next day. Fortunately, the forecast was correct and we had sunshine all morning for FindaBiz Netwalking!
Organising the Netwalk!
We knew we could only have a maximum of 30 attendees so we added an online booking system and invited FindaBiz Members to book their place if they wished to join us. This worked well and once we had our list of attendees we were able to ask them to do a lateral flow test on the morning of the netwalking and ask them not to come if they had been feeling unwell.
Walking the Netwalk!
Gemma and I met everyone in the car park and the initial meeting was surreal. We all stood two meters apart wearing facemasks but everyone’s eyes were shining so brightly because we were so pleased to see each other in person after 14 months. Although we couldn’t see our mouths you just knew everyone was smiling. As we walked along the woodland path, I stopped for a moment to take in the sound of the talking and laughing coming through the trees, it was simply a magical moment.
After the walk!
To finish off we all went to Coombe Abbey Orangery for refreshments. Again, so strange how we have adapted to life with Covid 19 Rules. Everyone wore a facemask unless they were sitting and we went one by one to collect our drinks. Everyone keeping a 2-meter distance and being Covid safe at all times.
In Conclusion!
I can confidently say that FindaBiz Netwalking was a very happy and social experience making the very most of Covid 19 Restrictions. We hope everyone enjoyed the joys of walking and every networker gets the chance to try something unique like netwalking!
